Frequently Asked Questions


Am I better off with a Linux based or Windows based plan?
We generally recommend one of our Windows plans to most customers, as Windows includes the most common features and options for all kinds of users. The exception to this is if you are planning on using a CMS, such as a forum or blogging system. This is because such applications are usually programmed in PHP which is native to Linux. Feel free to Contact our sales department with your intentions for the web space and we will be happy to make a recommendation.


What uptime can I expect? Is there any service guarantee?
Monthly-Hosting-Web guarantees 99.9% uptime. Uptime is covered under our Service Level Agreement (SLA).


Can I host more than one independent website?
Yes, both our Windows & Linux Hosting Plans allow you to host multiple domains/websites.


What is Trial Hosting?
Trial Hosting allows you to try our hosting services without actually paying anything. When you sign-up for Trial Hosting your credit card details are not asked. The trial period lasts for 15 days. After 15 days, unless you convert to Pay Mode, your account will get automatically suspended. When you switch to Pay Mode, the system will charge you from the date you signed up for trial hosting.


What different payment methods are accepted?
Customers can make payments by Credit Card, PayPal, Check or Wire Transfer. By Credit Card, we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. If paying by check we strongly recommend choosing the annual payment term.


If I host my site with Monthly-Hosting-Web, am I required to transfer my domain to Monthly-Hosting-Web?
No, you are not required to transfer your domain to us. You just need to change the Domain Name Server (DNS) settings with your current domain registrar. Monthly-Hosting-Web DNS information is emailed to you when you add a domain during sign-up.


What is Summary Disk Space?
At Monthly-Hosting-Web, disk space usage is calculated on the basis of Summary Disk Space. This is the total amount of space you can use across our different servers. This total includes web space, mail space, and database space. This space is based on average usage and not allocation. Your Sumary Disk Usage is determined monthly and is based on your daily average for that month.


How can I send/receive my emails?
You can send/receive your emails from a desktop application like Outlook Express. You can also access your mail using one of our available WebMail clients (Horde, SquirrelMail) by visiting a url similar to http://mail.yourdomain.com/


How much Mail Box and SQL Quota do I get in each Hosting Plan?
You can use as much Web, SQL and e-mail space as you want as long as the total space used (web+database+email) is under your allotted Summary Disk Space. A major concern from our customers has been how much e-mail space they will consume if they are heavy e-mail users. The response in most cases is under 1MB. This is because the system is based on the average utilization of your mail box on our servers. So if you download your e-mail frequently, your e-mail usage will be next to nil.


If my database or web files become corrupted, can you restore them from a backup?
Yes, we can do so for free. We take daily backups and will have the 3 most recent on file and available to you. Despite this, we still encourage our customers to create their own backups. We cannot be held responsible for any data-loss (please read our Terms of Service for more on this).


After I sign up, can I change my billing period?
You can change your Billing Period at any time. This can be done from within your Hosting Control Panel by clicking on the "Change" icon next to your "Billing Period" in the "Information" sidebar. You can choose from 1-month, 3-month, 6-month, or 1-year payment terms. You can pay your balance from your "Billing Profile" in the "Billing" section of your Hosting Control Panel. You can also view your invoices in the "Billing" section for details of credits and debits made to your account.


How can I buy more add-ons once I've signed up for my account?
You can buy any sort of add-on, whether its a resource or a feature, from within your Control Panel. If you want more disk space, you can click "Change" in front of the disk space indicator and increase your amount to the desired level. Similarly you can buy IPs, additional databases, etc.


If my business expands can I upgrade automatically to a higher Hosting Plan?
You can upgrade your plan at any time. This, however, is not performed automatically as you use more resources. You can switch plans from within your Hosting Control Panel by clicking on the "Change" icon next to your plan name in the "Information" sidebar. There is no fee, and you can change any time.


Can I host adult content on my site?
No. There is no pornography allowed on our servers.  Make sure you read our Terms of Service for more details on what is and is not allowed to be hosted with us.  If you have doubts, email us with the details, and we will let you know. 


What is HSphere?
HSphere is a Control Panel software developed by Parallels (PSOFT.NET). We use this software to efficiently manage our servers and to give our customers absolute control over their hosting.

Since Monthly-Hosting-Web's  servers are located in Miami, is my business at risk due to a hurricane?
Our servers are located in Miami Exchange, in Miami Florida. Miami Exchange is one of the most impressive datacenters in the world. This facility uses a state-of-the-art environmental control system that regulates temperature and humidity levels throughout the building. State-of-the-art fire suppression & electric systems prevent any fire or power surges from disrupting server operations. With 3-floors and 48,000 sq. ft. of space, the datacenter is rated as Class-5 hurricane resistant. In case of a power outage, the facility has 2 massive multi-million dollar generators and enough fuel reserves to last several days. The datacenter is 31 feet above sea-level and has never experienced a disruption due to any hurricane or natural disaster.
